New Korean Sandos and Croissant Waffles Spot Shines in Sunset

Irving Street's newest restaurant has a multicolored, out-of-this-world plastic egg the size of a fifth grader in the center.

It resembles a Fallout 3 attraction, but it's modern and functional. It will be the centerpiece of the newest Korean street food and pastry spot, opening May 1.

Cyrus Shen, the 15-year owner of Sunset's Poke Origin, Daly City's Shaking Crab, and Valencia Street's Sugoi Sushi, created Toast'N Egg.

He opened 23 restaurants in Japan, the US, and China after growing up in Macau.

This new eatery will serve 10 Korean toasts, including beef and kimchi, curry chicken, and vegan mushroom.

The drinks menu includes coffee, tea, the mystery, bubble-topped Paradise drink, and croissant waffles (croffles), four of which are Oreo and matcha-flavored.

Newer Gao Viet Kitchen and Lomo Libre flank Kevin's Noodle House, Pineapple King, and Hole in the Wall Pizza on a block known for low-key local spots.
